2020 Fellowship Recruitment
Welcome to the AATF application site. We hope you are here because you want to become part of our community, and teach in our schools. Please read the TEACH section of the AATF website to understand the benefits and responsibilities of becoming a Fellow. Please contact us if you have questions, or if you would like to meet with the Program Director, Jaime Hawkins firstname.lastname@example.org about this program. Thank you for your interest!
Application due: February 29, 2020
We are looking for African American aspiring educators who are:
Students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate education degree program, and about to enter the final year of that program, OR
Recent graduates who are planning to enroll in a graduate education degree program, OR
Currently working in education, seeking to become a licensed teacher, including people working with provisional licensure or teaching assistants who wish to become teachers. This latter group should have a college degree or be close to achieving a college degree.
The qualifications for becoming a Teaching Fellow are stringent. Our committee – a group of local educators and AATF board members – are looking for applicants who are academically competent, are willing to work with other fellows and with mentors, are interested in living and teaching in the Charlottesville/ Albemarle area, and are enthusiastic about education. Preference may be given to people seeking endorsement in the areas most critical to the needs of local school systems, but all k-12 areas of endorsement will be considered.
